Buying or Selling a Home in Cedartown, GA

Cedartown is our hometown. The Wood Legacy Team's office sits right on North Main Street, and we've helped neighbors here buy their first homes, move up, downsize, and sell family properties. As the county seat of Polk County, Cedartown offers small-town living in Cedar Valley, about 70 miles northwest of Atlanta and close to the Alabama line, with Rome, Carrollton, and Rockmart all an easy drive away.

Why People Love Living in Cedartown

  • A historic Main Street: Downtown Cedartown's commercial district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its late-1800s and early-1900s brick storefronts, now home to local restaurants and shops.

  • The Big Spring: One of the largest natural limestone springs in the Southeast flows right in town, producing millions of gallons of fresh water every day. Big Spring Park is a favorite spot for a walk or a picnic.

  • The Silver Comet Trail: The paved, 61-mile trail runs from Smyrna through Cedartown to the Alabama state line, where it connects with Alabama's Chief Ladiga Trail. It's perfect for biking, running, walking, and strollers.

  • Parks and community events: Peek Park hosts the spring Cedar Valley Arts Festival, and summer brings concerts and classic cars downtown, plus fall festivals and holiday events.

  • Affordability: Cedartown homes typically cost far less than comparable homes in metro Atlanta, which gives buyers more house and more land for their money.

A Little Cedartown History

Cedartown takes its name from the red cedar trees that once grew throughout Cedar Valley. Early settler Asa Prior deeded land for the town in the 1850s, and the city was rebuilt after the Civil War. In the 20th century, Goodyear operated a large textile mill here and built Goodyear Village for its workers. Many of those mill-era homes still stand today and give the town much of its character.
